QUIZ AID @ GORBALS CHURCH - SOUPER QUIZZ
It's that time year again when Harvest is upon us and Christmas is just round the corner. But now we have a new event in our Congregational Calander - Souper Quizz.
As a sharing, caring church we want to keep up the momentum of giving to others less fortunate than ourselves. This we can do by supporting Christian Aid and I hope that you will support this new event by coming along to our fun, super Souper Quizz. Souper Quizz is our version of Christian Aid's Quiz Aid which is where thousnads of people across the country take part in a quizz to raise as much money as they can for Christian Aid during the 13th and 19th of September.
Our Souper Quizz date has yet to be decided but when that date comes be ready for some fun.
HELPING THE PAKISTANI FLOOD VICTIMS
In 2010, more than 20 million people in Pakistan have been affected by what has been descibed as the worst natural disaster since the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami. More than 1.2 million Pakistanis have had their homes destroyed in the Floods with another 200,000 people evacuated from their homes in the Thatta area of the Sindh Province where numerous villages are already submerged.
Christian Aid is working alongside other organisations in the Act Alliance Partners where £150,000 of Christian Aid Donations has helped to provide food, shelter and medical assistance to around 230,000 people in Balochistan, Khyber Paktunkwa, Punjab and Sindh provinces.
Our Church is hoping to add to that with a current donation of £329.54 from our retiral offerings, tea bar and Christian Aid penny boxes. Thanks very much for your generous donations which will make all the difference for those affected by the Pakistani Floods.
CHRISTIAN AID WEEK 2010

Over the past week we have joined more than 20,000 churches to fight against poverty and climate change.
This year we had a Soup and Sandwich Lunch right after church last Sunday, the 9th of May with many of our friends and some old ones too. Everyone enjoyed themselves and couldn't resist tucking into the homemade cakes after they finished their soup, bread and cheese.
We managed to raise £217 from this event alone and another £63 from the retiral offering, making a total of £280 for Christian Aid and hopefully with some more events throught the year our donations will increase.
I would like to thank those who were involved over the past week especially those who helped provide the food and all those that helped out on the day. It was much appreciated and very kind of you.
